7. The Suckermouth Catfish\r
Also known as a plecostomus or pleco for short, these fish are huge algae and dead fish eaters that are natives to the tropical waters of South and Central America. They are often spotted in the southern U.S., but they are known as very harmful invasive species. Their name plecostomus translates to “folded mouth,” which is a fitting name for a fish whose mouth folds downwards, the ideal tool for sucking up food along the surfaces of rocks and many other structures. They can grow to be anywhere between 3-5 feet in length and be a couple feet in length, with some reaching a little over 6.5 feet long!\r

6. The Beaked Whale\r
Fishermen were left stunned when they came across this mysterious creature and had no clue what it was. They were fishing near the waters of Zhoushan, East China when the animal swam up to their boat. As they were recording, they described the animal as having the snout of a crocodile, but the gray-smooth skin of a dolphin. Officials would later identify the animal as a beaked whale. Beaked whales tend to live deep in the ocean and diving even deeper for their food source so it is unusual to see one this close to the surface. The two protruding lumps near its mouth are ually teeth, which makes this a male, are used to attr potential females to mate with.\r

5. The Wolffish\r
This enormous looking sea monster was found just near the coast of Russia, off the Island of Hokkaido. Japanese fisherman Hiroshi Hirasaka was out fishing when he discovered the creature, caught it, and then posted the following photo on twitter. Officials would later identify the animal as a type of wolffish, the largest that has ever been recorded. Wolffish populations have been dwindling in recent years due to overfishing and bycatch. Their presence in oceans is considered vital since they keep the sea urchin and green crab populations leveled, which can become overly destructive if they are allowed to grow too large in size. \r

4. The Rare Goby\r
This might look like something that crawled out of a horror , but rest assured this alien-looking creature is nothing more than a fish. A rare species of goby to be precise, it was caught by a fisherman named Anuar Pak Tam off the coast of Malaysia where this type of goby is said to live. Though it doesnt look like any ordinary old goby, it still is one but it happens to be a rare species of goby classified as either “S” or “E” goby. The eyes are prically non-existent but if you look closely youll they look like tiny black dots.\r

That is one massive looking snout, just look at it! This species of fish is known as the hogfish and it happens to be a vibrantly colored member of the wrasse family. As you can see, they are in possession of a protruding snout that is the perfect tool for looking for certain crustaceans that are hidden on the ocean floor, buried beneath the sand. These fish arent only weird looking, theyre also weirdly interesting. Whats pretty fascinating about this specific species of fish is that they start out their lives as females, but then 3 years into their life cycle they change into males. Only a handful of animals are able to make this physical change. They are located mostly around Florida and near the south Atlantic, growing lengths of up to 3 feet and weighing only up to 25 pounds. \r

2. The Swell Shark\r
This shark was discovered earlier this year back in April in the waters of Cabo, Mexico. It was here that Jaime Rendon would catch the shark and take these photos. At first, the crew believed the animal to be some strange new alien species, however, it would be later that this would be nothing more than a swell shark. The reason that its colored as pink and white is because this is a rare albino swell shark and those with pigmentation are more brown colored. It also had only 3 gill-slits on each side rather than the 5-7 gill slits that sharks normally possess. The shark was initially released back into the ocean only moments later.\r

This may look like something straight out of photoshop but we can assure you that its real alright. This monster-looking animal is in f an albino bull shark fetus with one eye that was discovered inside its pregnant mother that was caught in the Sea of Cortez. Many people speculated the photos were fake and that it was all a hoax, but Dr. Felipe Galvan says this abnormality is extremely rare with less than 50 cases of it documented. The shark suffers from the same genetic mutation that caused the cyclops kitten.
