Saina Nehwal has become the first Indian badminton player to win two singles gold medals at the Commonwealth Games. She defeated compatriot PV Sindhu in an all-Indian final on April 15. Saina had earlier won the gold at the 2010 Delhi games. She was the pillar of India's gold-winning campaign in the team championship earlier, playing every one of the singles matches due to Sindhu's injury.
