Maneka Gandhi to propose death penalty for child rape. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi stated that the ministry would move a cabinet note to amend the POCSO Act to bring death penalty for child rape. Gandhi said the amendment will instill fear in people so that they refrain from doing anything wrong with children.
