'Scrabble' is Adding 300 New Words, Including Emoji, to Its Dictionary The popular board game is keeping up with the times and will be releasing its sixth official player’s dictionary. 'Merriam-Webster’s The Official Scrabble Player’s Dictionary' will be out this fall and feature words like: Not just any word can be added to the dictionary though, they have to fit certain criteria. According to Mashable, the words must be in a standard dictionary and “cannot be abbreviations, capitalized words, or words containing hyphens or apostrophes.” The words also can’t be shorter than two letters or longer than eight letters. Time to play some 'Scrabble'!
