'Scrabble' is Adding 300 New Words, Including Emoji, to Its Dictionary The popular board game is keeping up with the times and will be releasing its sixth official player’s dictionary. 'Merriam-Webster’s The Official Scrabble Player’s Dictionary' will be out this fall and feature words like: Not just any word can be added to the dictionary though, they have to fit certain criteria. According to Mashable, the words must be in a standard dictionary and “cannot be abbreviations, capitalized words, or words containing hyphens or apostrophes.” The words also can’t be shorter than two letters or longer than eight letters.
