People & Business - An Entrepreneurs Insight in Finding Success in Failure | Candace Sjogren Tips

Failure and successes come with life and entrepreneurs know that all too well.

It took a sit down talk with a fellow entrepreneur for Candace to realise she had to step up to own up to her failures. Not only to know them but learn from them.

She also realized she was not the only entrepreneur to have shut down the failure in an effort to forge ahead.

Due to this realization, she analyzed a failure from one of her companies and came up with these tips to help entrepreneurs to live learn and repeat.

You are not your company

Sjogren says perspective is everything and what you see and hear can influence this. For instance, the cliché a company is an entrepreneur’s baby. She finds that this phrase can hamper your growth in some important ways.

An example is raising money for your idea. Most investors will not like your idea and even successful entrepreneurs go through this.

Therefore, if you tie yourself too closely to your company, you could risk confusing the rejection as a rejection of you rather than learning the valuable learning opportunity.

On the other side of the coin, when things are not going as it should it is important to recognize that the fact that the company is failing does not mean you are too. When you realize this, you will continue to lead your team with poise and compassion.

Nothing is ever as good or bad as it seems

Being in the entrepreneurial sphere means you will be exposed to its bipolar nature. Tweet by Elon Musk, ‘The reality is great highs, terrible lows, and unrelenting stress.’

She emphasizes that we must govern the size of our emotional swings. Entrepreneurs need to realize that not only is it within our control but is necessary to remain focused, conserve energy and make well-thought decisions.

Transparency is a double-edged sword

There’s nothing that motivates start-up employees more than bringing them closer to the action. Sjogren says when things get hard, sharing everything you are experiencing and feeling with teammates can work against you.

Do your best to not worsen problems by the company by pushing the stress onto your faithful supporters.

Overall you have to acknowledge and realize that as an entrepreneur, you will have wins and losses. Nonetheless, frame each adventure as part of a large novel. It is all part of the entrepreneurial journey.
