New Discovery - Puffins Have Fluorescent Beaks
  • 6 years ago
Puffins are seabirds known for digging burrows and having the same mate for their entire life. New research on Puffins, revealed that puffin beaks are fluorescent and glow bright blue under ultraviolet light. According to the Huffington Post, "birds can see a wider range of colors than humans can, and whatever is going on with the beak must be visible to other birds in a way that it isn't to people." Other scientists have theorized that it has something to do with the Puffin's mating process.
