"Away Goals... How Do You Sleep At Night?" part 2 (FIFA 18: Liverpool v Borussia Dortmund)

Liverpool 1-1 Borussia Dortmund
(Friendly, second leg)

In the most despicable manner imaginable I got the better of my FIFA rival Reidy in this two legged friendly between his Borussia Dortmund and my Liverpool in the early hours of Tuesday morning on the 3rd of April 2018. To win on away goals following two draws is a win only by technicality but it is a victory I claim nonetheless.

It was Reidy again who took the lead in the 26th minute of the second leg at Anfield with a good goal by Mario Götze, making it 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund on aggregate. I came close to an equaliser only minutes later when Georginio Wijnaldum’s shot clipped the outside of the post but it was all Dortmund in the first half and Liverpool were lucky to make it to half-time only one goal down.

Dortmund dominated possession and Liverpool barely had a sniff at goal until injury time when Wijnaldum popped up with a right foot strike that went in off the post to make it 1-1. With the aggregate score at 3-3 and Liverpool leading on away goals, Reidy asked the question “How do you sleep at night?” The truth is, I rarely do. In a two legged game where I never once took the lead, I got a slimy away goals victory and the bragging rights until our next encounter. This is a prime example of how cruel a game football can actually be. Away goals, double harsh!
