Music Teachers Play 'We're Not Gonna Take It' At Oklahoma Capitol Protest
  • 6 years ago
Music teachers and band instructors from across Oklahoma assembled in front of the Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City to play Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” during a teacher protest on April 2.In a message to Storyful, uploader Erin Nicole Epperly said: “It was spearheaded by the director at Putnam City West High School named Eddy Hudson Jr. He sent out a Google Form to all the band directors he knew, who then spread it from there. Anyone who was interested submitted their name, instrument, and days they were available to play during the walkout, and then he emailed them the music.”The educators are calling for higher pay and more funding for supplies and school resources, as well as protesting inaction on the part of lawmakers to funnel more money into the school system.
