Meek Mill Judge Denies Rapper's Request for Release on Bail Controversial judge Genece E. Brinkley defended the rapper's two to four year sentence for violating his parole, calling it "absolutely necessary." Last month, Mill's defense lawyer, Joe Tacopina, requested the firing of Brinkley, following allegations of bias. Her decision comes after Philadelphia prosecutors said they would not be opposed to the rapper's release on bail amid claims that his arresting officer lied under oath. Fortunately, we have already filed petitions with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to secure his release, and we remain hopeful that the Court will right this injustice very soon. Mill was sentenced in November to two to four years in prison for violating probation stemming from a 2008 drug and weapon possession conviction.
