Fake news controversy Mahesh Vikram Hegde arrested for publishing fake news

Several BJP leaders including Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde and MP Pratap Simha have jumped in to defend the editor of the website postcard news who has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Bengaluru police for spreading fake news. Mahesh Vikram Hegde of postcard news has been arrested for publishing fake news about a Jain Monk being attacked by some youths in Karnataka. He had published the same fake News content on Facebook and Twitter which was shared widely. A police investigation revealed that the monk mentioned in the article had been injured in an accident at Kanakpura.
