Ireland To Hold Abortion Referendum
Ireland will hold a referendum on whether abortion should be legalized on May 25. Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar had pledged to hold a vote to change the constitution. The Catholic-majority country has some of the strictest abortion laws in the developed world. Incest or rape do not provide legal grounds for abortion in Ireland. Calls to repeal the 8th amendment have grown in recent years.
