In Wake Of Lead Lawyer Resigning, Trump Denies Difficulty In Recruiting Lawyers For Russia Probe

President Trump on Sunday pushed back against the claim that he's having difficulty finding lawyers for the Russia probe.

In the wake of his top lawyer's recent resignation, President Trump took to Twitter on Sunday and said that there are "many lawyers" who want to represent him in special counsel Robert Mueller's probe of Russia's interference in the 2016 election.
"Many lawyers and top law firms want to represent me in the Russia case...don't believe the Fake News narrative that it is hard to find a lawyer who wants to take this on," Trump tweeted. "Fame & fortune will NEVER be turned down by a lawyer, though some are conflicted."
"Problem is that a new lawyer or law firm will take months to get up to speed (if for no other reason than they can bill more), which is unfair to our great country - and I am very happy with my existing team. Besides, there was NO COLLUSION with Russia, except by Crooked Hillary and the Dems!" Trump continued.
The New York Times reported on Thursday that John Dowd resigned "as President Trump's lead lawyer for the special counsel investigation as Mr. Trump signaled that he was prepared to ignore his advice and wanted a sit-down with investigators."
Trump's Sunday tweets may have been prompted by a Washington Post report days ago.
"Some law firms have signaled that they do not want the controversy of representing a divisive and unpopular president, while others have told Trump advisers they have clients with conflicting interests, according to several lawyers and three of the president's advisers," the Post noted.
