March 23 (UPI) -- A supplement containing an enzyme helped reverse the effects of vascular aging in mice, offering hope for humans, according to new research. Biologists at Penn Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology showed that lowered levels of SIRT1 decrease blood-vessel density and blood flow, and that adding the molecule can reverses the effects of vascular aging. The findings were published Thursday in the journal Cell.
