During Navaratri, the worship of nine forms of mother is done throughout the country, whereas, on the last Navaratri, there is a law to worship the Karkar or the daughter on the day of Navratri. This collective worship is done on Ashtami and Navami. On this day, young girls are worshiped as goddess mother and worshiped. Virgo worship begins with washing the feet of girls. After this, Goddess Bhagwati Durga is fed to the girl with full reverence for the enjoyment of gram, halwa, khil, pu etc.. After this, the blessings are bowed down on them.

आखिरी नवरात्रि के दिन शास्त्र अनुसार कंजक या कन्या पूजन करने का विधान है। इस कंजक पूजन को अष्टमी व नवमी पर किया जाता है। इस दिन छोटी कन्याओं को देवी मां का रूप मानकर पूजा जाता है। कन्‍या पूजन की शुरुआत कन्‍याओं के चरण धोने से होती है। इसके बाद उनको भगवती दुर्गा को लगा चने, हलवा-पूरी, खीर, पुए आदि का भोग का पूरी श्रद्धा से कन्याओं को खिलाया जाता है। इसके बाद उनसे झुककर आशीष लिया जाता है। सत्य और समर्पण भाव से उनको माता ही मानकर उनके आशीर्वाद को स्वीकार करने की यह परंपरा कई वर्षों से चली आ रही है।
