Trump Says Bush ‘Didn’t Have The Smarts’ For International Relations

President Trump on Wednesday seemingly suggested that former President George W. Bush lacked the intelligence necessary to successfully navigate international relations. "Getting along with Russia (and others) is a good thing, not a bad thing. They can help solve problems with North Korea, Syria, Ukraine, ISIS, Iran and even the coming Arms Race," Trump tweeted, in part. "Bush tried to get along, but didn't have the 'smarts.'"  This was not Trump's first disparaging remark about Bush's intellectual prowess. In March, he reportedly said sarcastically and in regard to the invasion of Iraq, "That was Bush. Another real genius. That was Bush." Notably, Bush does not appear to hold Trump in high regard, either.  "Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication," Bush said at a speech in October. "We have seen our discourse degraded by casual cruelty."
