Amazon Passes Google as Second Most Valuable Company in the United States Amazon officially passed Alphabet, the owner of Google, for the No. 2 spot, with only Apple surpassing them. The change happened because Google's stock has fallen for the past few days due to the recent Facebook scandal. Amazon's stock, on the other hand, continued to rise and its market value now sits at $765 billion, about $3 billion more than Alphabet. While Amazon's value is on the rise, its value is still far below the almost $900 billion value of Apple. Regardless, Jeff Bezos must be happy with being the world's richest man AND the owner of the second most valuable company in the U.S.
