In a late-night accident in Tempe, Arizona, a self-driving Uber vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian.

Tempe police said the automobile was in autonomous mode when it struck a woman who was crossing the street late Sunday night.
The pedestrian was identified by police as 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg. She was rushed to a hospital, where she died of her injuries.
