On temporary islands in C.Africa, hundreds flee militia torture

Hundreds of displaced people from the Central African Republic fleeing anti-Balaka militias have settled in temporary makeshift homes along the isolated, transient shores of the Ubangi River. Many fishermen have stories of friends or family who have been kidnapped or ransomed while others have been forced to join the militia, through a bloody scarification ritual that they call "vaccination".
