According to a report by Business Insider, the Plattsburgh, New York city council voted unanimously to introduce an 18-month ban on commercial Bitcoin mining operations within city limits. The move was announced after city residents complained that wildly inflated electricity bills caused by commercial Bitcoin mining operations have taken advantage of the city's low power costs.
