Demi Lovato Celebrates Six Years of Sobriety The singer announced the milestone in a Twitter post. Today is a very special day for me... I'm officially celebrating 6 years of sobriety!! I'm so thankful to my family, friends and @castcenters for being a part of this journey. A huge part of my recovery was learning to love myself and to give back to others. Lovato, 25, has been open about her struggles not only with addiction, but also bipolar disorder, self-harm and bulimia. She entered rehab in 2010 and spent time in a sober house in 2013. The former Disney Channel star put her issues at the forefront of a 2017 YouTube documentary called Simply Complicated, where she discussed her substance abuse and other struggles. Lovato has been keeping up with Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, recently admitting to attending one after she left the 2016 Met Gala early.
