According to a report by Reuters, Syrian government forces have intensified their assault on Eastern Ghouta, making advances that both a war monitor and state media claim have splintered the enclave. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has said that the capture of Mesraba, a town connecting the northern and southern halves of the rebel-held enclave, as well as advanced into nearby farmland, have brought critical roads directly under fire by the army.
