Oprah Loves Her New Barbie Doll Because she Couldn't Afford One as a Child

Oprah Loves Her New Barbie Doll Because she Couldn't Afford One as a Child Now at 64, Oprah is the proud owner of her own TV network, a Presidential Medal of Freedom AND a Barbie doll in her image. The doll is based off of Mrs. Which, her character from the new 'Wrinkle in Time' movie. Oprah's cast mates, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling, got Barbie dolls based off their characters. To now have a doll made in the image of your character is a pretty phenomenal moment. It is not lost on me that that has happened... It’s a pretty phenomenal thing. When she was a child, Oprah said that Barbie's were always too expensive and that brown Barbie's didn't exist. I had, literally, a corncob doll … where you take the corn, shuck it, and then you try to make a little doll and you use the silk for the hair. All three dolls are currently available on Barbie's website.
