8 - Hey Spud… \r
Reddit User, KevlarYamulke, received a most unusual parcel once which resulted in around 1500 comments from Reddit Users. So, what would cause so many people to re to a package? Because KevlarYamulke received an unpackaged potato. Apparently, this is one of the few things that one can post in the USA… just pop a stamp on it and write the details with a marker, and youre all set to post that potato! \r

You might not want to if you received this accidentally. A student in the states ordered a pretty ordinary weight-lifting bench online. He was rather surprised to received 2 packages addressed to him, and when he opened the second one, was even more surprised to find a $300 000.00 drone inside! The drone ended up belonging to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and no one knows how that drastic error occurred. \r

4 - Testing the limits…\r
As mentioned already, many have tried to push the boundaries to see exly what they can get away with posting. Some scientists / pranksters from a magazine called Improbable Research, made it their mission to see what they could get away with posting. They sent many different items and marked them either valuable, disgusting, suspicious, sentimental, pointless and unwieldy. Items included rotton fish, a coconut, one ski, a tooth and helium balloon. 18 of the 28 strange items were ually posted by the postal service… however, when it came to the fish, they were sent a warning for abusing the postal service. \r

3 - The trend continues… \r
Ripleys Believe it or not did something very similar, and they ran a competition to see what was the strangest items the postal service would deliver. In just over 4 months they had 198 entries from 5 countries. Some of the items that were entered into the competition and successfully delivered included a deer skull, not packaged – just with stamps and address on the bone, an inflatable palm tree and the winner of the competition was a tree stump. Like the deer, the stamps and details went directly on the wood and it was delivered with no questions asked. \r

2 - Snow Joke… \r
Heres another completely legit item that you can ually post… An enterprising chap in Boston created Ship Snow, Yo! And thats what you can do, send snow to anywhere in the US. Each box allows the recipient to throw a few snow balls and make a small snowman! \r

Back in the late 1800s over in NYC, physicians were ually posting various strains of diseases, which included smallpox, diphtheria and scarlet fever. They posted these all over the country. These were often dropped off along with your daily supply of milk – all very unusual, isnt it?
