West Virginia Teachers Get 5 Percent Raise To End Strike
  • 6 years ago

West Virginia officials agreed on Tuesday to a deal ending a teachers strike. Pay has been raised for all state workers by 5 percent after more than a week of protests. More than 277,000 students were out of the classroom for nine school days. Gov. Jim Justice said, “I stood rock solid on the 5 percent Teacher pay raise and delivered." The state senate had approved just a 4 percent raise. Spending cuts in the governor's office provided state employees with the raise.
