Yurchenko Vault Training with Coach Ron | Whitney Bjerken
  • 6 years ago
Whitney has been working hard to get her Yurchenko vault back on track after her ankle injury. The Yurchenko vault is the vault needed to compete in USA Gymnastics level 8. Whitney has been doing the level 7 vault at her past two meets because she has not been able to train the Yurchenko. Hopefully, Whitney will be able to get it all together before her next competition. Here Coach Ron has Whitney do drills that will help her with the moves and body shapes she will need to complete the skill.\r

From Wikipedia: Yurchenko is the name of both a specific vault and a vault family in artistic gymnastics. The Yurchenko was named after Soviet gymnast Natalia Yurchenko, who first performed the vault at the 1982 World Cup.\r
In a Yurchenko vault, the gymnast does a round-off onto the springboard and a back handspring onto the horse or vaulting table. The gymnast then performs a salto, which may range in difficulty from a simple single tuck to a triple twist layout.\r
