Whats after clothes and books? PAPER! Here are 10 Decluttering Tips from Marie Kondos best-selling The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up to help you discard all those old documents that have been dragging you down! The paperless home office is here (well, almost)! You wont want to miss my beautiful binders!\r
\r
I gave a shout out to Alejandra.tv, whose colorful binder organization video inspired me!\r
\r
\r
Here are the 10 points I covered in this video:\r
\r
1. Discard (almost) all papers, using the KonMari method (gather all documents in entire home together, then hold each one and ask if it sparks joy to decide to keep or donate/recycle/discard).\r
\r
2. Stick to the category: Paper!\r
\r
3. Put nostalgic items and photos aside for when you go through those items in the final KonMari decluttering category. \r
\r
4. Avoid complex filing systems.\r
\r
5. Dont shop for containers; discard clutter first, then use what you have to store what sparks joy. She particularly likes shoe boxes and Apple product boxes.\r
\r
6. Use binders for frequently used items.\r
\r
7. Discard lecture materials. Paradox: Because we hang on to such materials, we fail to put what we learn into price.\r
\r
8. Thoughts on processing credit card statements, warranties, checkbooks, greeting cards, pay slips.\r
\r
9. Discard cancelled checks. Plus: My cancelled check secret for motivating myself as an entrepreneur/freelancer.\r
\r
10. By handling each item, you process your past.\r
\r
Check out my whole KonMari ! The magic is real (no, Im not a professional organizer, Im just a working musician/mom/writer who spends far too much time cleaning).
