Netflix Releases New Features to Improve Parental Controls Previously, the company allowed parents to use four-digit PINs to restrict different profiles based on maturity ratings. The new update will allow PINs to be used on different movies and TV shows instead of whole accounts, giving more freedom and more refined control over the content that children watch. We understand that every family is different and that parents have differing perspectives on what they feel is appropriate to watch at different ages. Netflix will also display the maturity rating of a show or film more prominently and also give a short description on why it is rated that way. While these maturity ratings are available in other parts of the experience, we want to ensure members are fully aware of the maturity level as they begin watching.
