Saturday, March 4th, a man with a concealed handgun committed suicide in front of the White House. After the incident the Secret Service released this statement, "The subject approached the vicinity of the North White House fence line and removed a concealed handgun and fired several rounds, none of which appear at this time to have been directed towards the White House." The public was immediately alerted after the shots were fired and the White House was locked down
