This is the remarkable moment a trapper from Utah in the USA was forced to release a furious mountain lion which he caught by accident.

In the video, which was filmed in December last year, the man finds the adult lion lying on the ground with one of its paws caught in the trap.

As he approaches with a noose, the big cat hisses and claws at him wildly.

After a couple of failed attempts, the trapper manages to get the noose over the lion's head to control the furious animal.

Then, with great care, he manages to remove the trap and set the mountain lion free.
