Chris Crawford of the Coral Springs Police Department, said he was on patrol at the mall nearby when he heard reports of the shooting on February 14. He jumped into his car and sped toward Marjory Stoneman Douglas High at 100 mph, lights and sirens on, he said at a news conference Friday. Craford said he rushed into the building, where he was joined by others from his department. The building was riddled with bullet holes, with spent shell casings scattered all over.
