Rahul Dravid was in the twilight of his career when Suresh Raina started playing international cricket. Dravid was Raina's first captain and safe to say, his mentor as well. Suresh Raina said, “I have always idolised Rahul Dravid. He was my first captain and he has always been an elder brother to me. Hum log thay UP waale desi ekdum. Pata nahi tha kaise khana hai, cutlery kaise use karni hai. Bass yeh pata tha ki ball ko maarna kaise hai. Unse milne ke baad ek saleeka aaya, ek tehzeeb aayi. Dravid showed the way to lead life and the attitude that a player should have. Rahul bhai supported me a lot."

सुरेश रैना ने अपने पूर्व कप्तान राहुल द्रविड़ के योगदान को उनकी तारीफ की है। रैना ने कहा है कि द्रविड़ ने उन्हें जीने का तरीका सिखाया और वह उनके बड़े भाई की तरह हैं। सुरेश रैना ने टीम इंडिया में अपना डेब्यू द्रविड़ की कप्तानी में ही किया था। रैना ने कहा कि अगर द्रविड़ जैसा प्रेरित करने वाले व्यक्ति हो तो तो उसके लिए हम जान भी दे सकते हैं।
