Outrage on Twitter after CCTV airs Chinese New Year gala

A performance during CCTV's Annual New Year's Gala has drawn severe backlash for its depiction of African culture. One of the skits showed an actress in blackface and a fake posterior, portraying an African mother who was accompanied by a pet monkey. Twitter exploded with reacts denouncing the skit as racist and ignorant.
