LAHORE: Muhammad Amin, father of Kasur’s seven-year-old Zainab, has demanded that the prime suspect in the rape and murder case of her daughter should be stoned to death.

He made this demand while speaking to the media after his arrival at an anti-terrorism court as it is set to announce its reserved verdict in the case today.

Amin said the culprit should be handed down an exemplary punishment so as to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.

He said it was because of Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar’s special interest that the case was being taken to its logical conclusion at such a pace.

Zainab, who went missing on January 4 from Kasur’s Kot Road area, was found raped, dead and buried in a trash heap in Kasur on Jan 9.

The horrific incident triggered widespread outrage and protests across the country with people calling for public execution of the culprit.

ATC Judge Sajjad Ahmad will announce his verdict in the case today. He had reserved the judgment after recording testimonies of prosecution witnesses as well as arguments of defense and prosecution sides.
