A family in California is suing Starbucks over a 2016 incident involving two drinks that were allegedly tainted by an employee’s blood.

A family in California is suing Starbucks over a 2016 incident involving two drinks that were allegedly tainted by an employee's blood, notes KCAL. It was reportedly smeared on the inside and outside of the cups.  According to KNBC, attorneys for the family say the beverages were ordered at the drive-through of a San Bernardino Starbucks and partially consumed before the blood and a "strong metallic smell" were noticed.  Amanda Vice, one of the plaintiffs, told KTLA, "Once we drank it, then we could see on the inside of the rim that there was blood." Vice also noted that her 2-year-old daughter was "licking the lid, and eating whipped cream from the cup."  The lawsuit asserts that the coffee outpost knew one of its employees was bleeding, but failed to take adequate action.  When the Starbucks store was made aware of the situation, it reportedly offered each family member $1,000 and a week of free drinks. However, it also allegedly said they it could not demand the employee to undergo a blood test. 
The family got itself tested, and the samples showed no signs of disease.
