The skeleton, called "Cheddar Man," was found in Cheddar Gorge in 1903. The scientists were able to drill into the skull to extract DNA from the bone powder. With dark curly hair, blue eyes and a "dark to black" skin tone, Cheddar Man defies previous notions of early European features. Tom Booth, a postdoctoral researcher at the museum Cheddar Man's genetic profile is congruent with other human remains found around Europe in his era.
