There are 6.5 million people living with heart failure in the US today, with about half suffering from a certain type of long-lasting heart failure where the heart is unable to circulate blood efficiently. Annually, more than 1 million hospitalizations have a primary diagnosis of heart failure - that's nearly 2 hospitalizations every minute. Because heart failure symptoms are often mild and progress slowly, they can be under-recognized and attributed to just getting older.
