6. Penitente\r
Penitentes are a type of snow formation that typically occurs at a high altitude. They kind of look like stalagmites and they are sharp hardened spikes of ice or snow. The formations are strange because they are caused by the sun turning the snow into vapor before it ually melts. The temperature where these spikes form have a dew point that is below freezing. The snow goes through a process known as sublimation which means that the snow skips the liquid phase on condensation entirely. There is a mathematical formula that goes over the process that the penitentes go through but, the psychical process of this is still not totally clear. The presence of penitentes was ually first officially observed by Charles Darwin.\r

5. Fallstreak Hole\r
A fallstreak hole is also known by the name hole punch cloud. Its a large hole in clouds. The hole is formed when the temperature of the clouds in freezing and they water hasnt frozen yet. When the ice crystals eventually form the surrounding ice crystals will also form, they will evaporate leaving a large hole where they once were. Scientists think that the rapid formation of the ice crystals sets of the wide evaporation that causes the fallstreak hole. The process of this formation is complex and everything is still not known about it. These strange clouds are not confined to one particular region as they can form anywhere as long as the conditions are right. \r

4. Fire whirls\r
Fire whirls are not an apocalyptic plot device. They are an ual natural phenomenon. The are also known as fire tornadoes or fire twisters. They are caused when a fire causes a whirlwind, similar to a cyclone. The fire whirl can collect debris and combustible gasses. Luckily, the fire tornadoes arent ual tornadoes. They never grow to the right size. Only the core of the fire whirl is fire, the tornado gets its cyclone appearance from a whirlwind of air that surrounds and sweeps it up. The fire can ually reach up to 2000F. The fire is hot enough to even pick up its own ashes and reignite them. The fire whirls can be caused when a wildfire starts to create its own wind and the stuff hits the fan. There was a fire whirl that occurred in Japan in 1923 that was the result of an earthquake. The resulting firestorm leveled the city and killed 38000 people in under fifteen minutes. Just be thankful that Dorothy didnt get trapped in one of these.\r

3. Cappuccino Coast\r
These unbelievable pictures are ually of a specific coast in Australia. Its called the Cappuccino Coast and the naturally occurring sea foam that it produces is ually the result of a mixture of impurities in the ocean. The occurrence is rare, usually only happening once every couple decades but, in 2007 the sea foam overtook the beach and reached over 30 miles inland. The sea churns up the salts, chemicals and dead things in the ocean and creates a fluffy foam. The foam is then brought to shore on the tide. The residents of the small town enjoy the foam. The say that it feels weird, like clouds of air. Whenever it happens the residents enjoy flocking around in the surf like its their own special foam party.\r

2. Catatumbo Lightning\r
Catatumbo Lightning is a natural phenomenon that is contained in Venezuela. The event occurs only in one specific place in Venezuela, over the Catatumbo river. It is an atmospheric event where lightning kind of goes crazy. The lightning happens erratically, mostly dependant on the weather of the area. The cause is a near perpetual thunderstorm that is present during 140 to 260 nights a year. The river sees an average of 25 flashes per a minute. That is a lightning strike every 2.4 seconds. In the rest of the world, 12 strikes per a minute are considered dangerous. The area has been said to be the largest generator of tropospheric ozone, the ozone that is present in the troposphere layer of the atmosphere. That f has not been proven, though.\r

1.Volcanic Lightning\r

Volcanic Lightning is mother natures response to the question about whether or not, she is indeed metal. She is guys. The phenomenon is also called a Dirty Thunderstorm. The occurrence is very rare but, the photos of one surfaced on the internet recently and it has since taken the world by storm. Pun intended. Its caused by electrical charges created when rock, ash, and ice collide and produce massive static energy charges. The existence of the lightning is similar to that of a thunderstorm in that lightning is caused by ice and water particles colliding in a storm. Oddly enough, the lightning doesnt start in at the start of the eruption, it explod
