The Shape of Water May Have Plagiarized A 1960s Play

According to some film critics, Guillermo Del Toro may have plagiarized the 1960s play “Let Me Hear You Whisper” by Paul Zindel with his film, “The Shape of Water.”
This could be controversial because ‘The Shape of Water’ has been nominated by 13 Academy Awards.
The story of "Let Me Hear You Whisper", set in the 1960s, follows the story of a janitor named Helen who works at a research facility.
Helen realizes an imprisoned research dolphin... is communicating with her and falls “in love with her aquatic friend, decides to rescue the creature.
This is extremely close to the plot of “The Shape of Water.” An investigation is being conducted.
