Sanders To Reporter: You're 'Accusing The President Of Being Complicit' In School Shooting

Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Wednesday lashed out at a reporter over President Trump's actions in the wake of recent shootings.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Wednesday asserted that a reporter accused President Trump "of being complicit in a school shooting," reports The Hill. The claim was made after Peter Alexander of NBC News asked a number of questions about the White House's efforts to diminish incidents of gun violence in schools. He also inquired if, in regard to the recent fatal shooting at a Kentucky high school, the president intends to "go before the nation and tell Americans how he feels about this issue and try to do what he can with the bully pulpit." Sanders cut him off, saying, "I think he has, Peter," then said soon after, "Let me be very clear on this: The fact that you're basically accusing the president of being complicit in a school shooting is outrageous." Alexander interjected, noting, "I'm not. It's his advertisement that accuses the Democrats of being complicit on a different topic. I'm not accusing the president of anything." Sanders defended the president's commitment to fighting crime at large and tragedies like the recent one in Kentucky before leaving the podium.
