Cincinnati Zoo's Fiona the Hippo Celebrates First Birthday

Fiona the hippopotamus celebrated her first birthday at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens on Wednesday, January 24, with a cake made of fruit. It followed a party held at the zoo on Saturday.She had the cake, bamboo decorations to snack on, and a mural of her zoo friends wishing her a happy birthday.Fiona was born six weeks early at just 29 pounds and couldn’t walk. The normal birth weight for a hippo is 55-120 pounds. She now weighs in at 650 pounds.Fiona’s fandom swelled on social media as people watched her grow and reach several milestones like taking her first steps and playing.
