Morgan Freeman was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The 80-year-old icon received a standing ovation from the star-studded audience at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

And during his acceptance speech, Freeman admitted he'd never remember all the names of the people he needed to thank.

The Hollywood star - who arrived at the bash with his family and friends - said: "These moments in your life, usually will call for a entire litany of thank you’s. I can't do that because I don't know all of your names so I won't try."

Freeman was presented with his award by Rita Moreno, who he first met when they worked together on 1971 children's series 'The Electric Company'.

She hailed her former co-star as a "national treasure."
