Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, who has been an outspoken supporter of President Trump, joked about his alleged "shithole" remark Thursday night at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, reports BuzzFeed News.
"Welcome to Mar-a-Lago, a magnificent place. It sure ain't no shithole," Pirro reportedly said in front of a crowd that had gathered for celebrations relating to Trump's first year in office.
She also addressed accusations of racism against Trump.
"I love Donald Trump," Pirro noted. "He's the least racist man I've ever met, but I must tell you, race has always been an issue for Donald. Donald is always in a race — in a race against time, in a race against competitors, in a race against corruption, in a race against crime, and a race against terrorism."
According to the Washington Post, following a discussion about people coming to the U.S. from El Salvador, Haiti, and Africa, Trump said on January 11, "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?"
His remark sparked widespread criticism.
Democratic Representative John Lewis told ABC News, "I think he's a racist."
"It's not how a president should speak. It's not how a president should behave," former Vice President Joe Biden wrote on Twitter last week. "Most of all, it's not what a president should believe. We're better than this." Trump appeared to offer a denial, when he tweeted, "The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used."
He also told reporters on Sunday, "No, I'm not a racist. I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed."
