President Donald Trump sent mixed signals ahead of the House vote to extend the controversial Section 702 of the Federal Intelligence Authorization Act (FISA), allowing for warrantless surveillance of foreign communications. Trump said we “need” the legislation even while suggesting that Obama- and Clinton-aligned “deep state” actors used its provisions to tap his communications during the 2016 campaign.
