Who - Starkey. A Philly-based producer who's previously showcased his unique robo-funk on two Planet Mu released albums, Ephemeral Exhibits and Ear Drums And Black Holes, the blazing Space Traitor Vol 1 & 2 EPs and, most recently, the Open The Pod Bay Doors EP for Ninja Tune. His collaborators include grime vocalists P Money, Trim and Durrty Goodz, rising pop princess Charli XCX and, following recent studio sessions for the chart-bothering rapper's next album, Tinie Tempah.
What - Track is called Command. The single features remixes from Plastician, Drums Of Death, Pedro123, Noisses, DS1.
Why - Starkey has carved out a unique channel in electronic music. His explorations in the unnamed airspace between grime and dubstep have earned respect from both camps, despite them being predominately British pursuits and Starkey being an American outsider whose music isn't solely confined to either genre.
