Major outage knocks out power in Seattle

Most of downtown Seattle lost power after a large outage darkened the city for about an hour on on Wednesday (May 25) , according to local media reports. The Seattle Times reported the power outage began shortly after 11:30 a.m. local time (1830GMT) with reports of nearly 12,000 meters being affected due to an equipment failure at the Massachusetts Street substation downtown.
