Mexico earthquake: Strong tremor hits near Pinotepa Nacional in Oaxaca

A strong earthquake struck southern Mexico on Monday afternoon, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or serious damage. Authorities said the quake was felt in five states. Tall buildings swayed in Mexico City 215 miles (350 kilometres) from the quake's epicenter. The U.S. Geological Survey said the tremor had a preliminary magnitude of 5.7 and its epicentre was in the southern state of Oaxaca, about 6 miles (10 kilometres) north of the town of Pinotepa de Don Luis.
