United Kingdom votes to leave the European Union

The United Kingdom has voted in a historic referendum to leave the European Union, the BBC projects, marking a historic decision that will rock the 28-member bloc and has caused financial markets worldwide to plummet. With 307 out of 382 counting areas reporting, Leave led the results with 51.7 percent, against 48.3 percent for remain. The BBC, along with ITV News and Sky News, projected just after 4:30 a.m. local time on Friday that Leave would win. James Valles reporting (BNO News)
