Marshall took out Old Dominion after a frantic finish in the Conference USA quarterfinals. Both teams traded baskets with under :15 seconds to play, before Jon Elmore drew a foul with just a couple seconds remaining. He split his free throws and the Thundering Herd survived a final heave from the Monarchs to win 64-63 and advance to the semifinals.
