About half of American voters think that President Trump will soon be cleared in the Russia investigation, according to a new a Politico/Morning Consult poll conducted on January 4 and 5. 48% of the 1,988 respondents said Trump being exonerated by year's end was either very or somewhat likely. 37% saw that outcome as being not too likely or not at all likely. Under one-third foresee Trump leaving office before 2018 comes to a close.  "Democrats and Republicans have drastically different views on whether Trump will be cleared of wrongdoing in the Russia probe led by special counsel Robert Mueller," Kyle Dropp, co-founder of Morning Consult, commented. "Three in four Republicans, 74 percent, say it's likely Trump will be cleared of wrongdoing in the Russia probe this year. But only 32 percent of Democrats say the same." Though it is unlikely that Trump was involved in the poll, he is among the Americans who anticipate the Russia probe will go his way.  When recently questioned if he asked Attorney General Jeff Session not to recuse himself on matters involving Russia, Trump replied, "…everything that I've done is 100 percent proper. That's what I do is I do things proper."  "And you know, I guess the collusion now is dead because everyone found that, after a year of study, there's been absolutely no collusion," the president further noted. "There has been no collusion between us and the Russians."
