How Do Trains Change Tracks? - DriveSpark
  • 6 years ago
Have you ever wondered how trains change tracks while running?

To make a train change its track, a special mechanical arrangement known as a 'railroad switch' is used. It basically consists of a pair of rails (switching rails or points) that are linked to each other.

The switching rails can direct or guide the train, either on a straight path or on the diverging path or a curved railway line.

Most track changes are not felt by most passengers, but some people who knows a thing or two about trains can notice the process, just by the sound it makes.
